I updated Citrix workspace app from 1909 to 1912 on some machines that also had Citrix Virtual apps and Desktops (for remote workers). Some users that use Citrix Remote PC (Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops 1912) are no longer able to connect to their machines. Remote PC appears to want to launch but then just disappears. We've had issues when connecting to a XenApp environment from non-GPU Horizon VDI where the remote application menu bars would delay, apps would hang, etc. We were able to resolve this back on Receiver 4.9 by disabling hardware acceleration via ADMX policy/template.

After updating our VDI image to Workspace App 1912 (LTSR), the issue is back. We confirmed that the policy is correctly set, and the registry key is present (HWacceleration = 0) but it does not appear to be honoring this setting.

Has anyone ran into this? Are there any additional settings that must be set since we're now on Workspace App? I have opened a ticket with Citrix as well with no resolution thus far.

This is expected behavior due to a design change.
There is a difference in the way the thumbprint is calculated for applications in Receiver 4.9.6 and Workspace 1912. Due to this difference in design, there is a mismatch in the thumbprints when upgrading from Receiver 4.9.6 to WorkspaceApp 1912. This is causing the applications to reinstall, which in turn is causing the disappearance of the shortcuts.
From Workspace 1809, the above mentioned features have been added in the thumbprint calculation and the upgrade from 1809 to any higher version does not see this issue.
